Message from Our Principal Mr. Teed – May 7th, 2018

LETTER FROM MR. TEED

May 7, 2018

To our Cameron Heights CI students and families,

As you may be aware, some area schools have reported threatening messages found on school property, and unfortunately this continues to impact our school.

Today at lunchtime, our staff were made aware of another graffiti threat found on school property. The message stated “Everyone dead on Thursday at 2:15”. This threat was immediately reported to the Waterloo Regional Police Service who are currently investigating to determine the author of the message. There was no evidence found to support that this threat is credible.

No matter the intention, we take any intimidation or threat of violence seriously and the authors of these threats need to understand that they will be held accountable. As we identify the individuals responsible for these threatening remarks, they are subject to consequences and progressive discipline that may result in:

  • arrest and criminal charges and;
  • suspension or expulsion from school

We are grateful to Waterloo Regional Police Services for their continued efforts and support. Arrests have been made at other schools for similar threats and we are optimistic that the persons responsible for threats towards our school will soon be apprehended.

We ask for the ongoing assistance of our students to report any information you may have of this incident to police at 519-570-9777 ext. 4421 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

We want to thank our partners at WRPS for helping to keep our schools safe places to learn. Please feel free to call the CHCI Administration at 519-578-8330 with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Ray Teed, Principal
