Threatening Message at Cameron

To our Cameron Heights CI students and families,
On Friday, our staff were made aware of a social media post that was threatening in nature. The message stated, “I’m shooting up the school September 10”. This threat was immediately reported to the Waterloo Regional Police Service who are currently investigating to determine the author of the message.
It is unacceptable to make threats, written or verbal, towards anyone. No matter the intention, we take any intimidation or threat of violence seriously and the authors of these threats need to understand that they will be held accountable. As we identify the individuals responsible for this threatening remark, they are subject to consequences and progressive discipline that may result in:
· arrest and criminal charges and;
· suspension or expulsion from school
As we work closely with our partners at WRPS, we ask for the ongoing assistance of our students to report any information you may have about this incident. You can confidentially report things that concern you to any teacher, administrator or local police. You can also contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 without fearing that you will be identified.
We want to thank our partners at WRPS for helping to keep our schools safe places to learn. As a precaution, WRPS will be present at our school tomorrow and access points to the building may be limited.
