The Waterloo Region District School Board is pleased to announce that former Student Trustee Krishna Trivedi is one of six recipients of the 2026 Healthy Democracy Student Leadership Award. Recipients of this scholarship are chosen based on their demonstrated leadership skills and potential, commitment to their communities, and dedication to their own learning. Each recipient receives a $1,000 scholarship.

This scholarship, presented by the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association (OPSBA) and the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO), is awarded annually to one graduating English public school student from each of OPSBA’s regions. As part of the AMO Democracy Project, the scholarship promotes the value and role of Ontario’s municipal governments, while emphasizing the importance of diverse leadership and respectful civic dialogue.

The WRDSB and its Board of Trustees extend their congratulations to Krishna on this achievement and look forward to his success in his chosen post-secondary pathway.
