Dear Cameron Heights CI families,
I want to make you aware of a situation that affected our school today. Around 9:55 a.m. Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) alerted us to a serious situation they were handling. An armed suspect was in the vicinity of our school. At this point, the school was directed into a hold and secure.
As part of our hold and secure protocol, students and staff remained inside and all doors were locked so no one could enter or exit the building. Staff and students were safe inside the school at all times. Our school remained on hold and secure for approximately four hours until the suspect was apprehended and we were assured by WRPS that it was safe to return to our regular school routines.
We will always take whatever precaution is necessary to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We want to thank our partners at WRPS for helping to keep our schools’ safe places to learn. As always, please call me at the school at 519-578-8330 if you have questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Ray Teed, Principal
