Dear Cameron Heights Collegiate Institute (CHCI) Families,

The Region of Waterloo has informed us that the emergency shelter, located in the Edith MacIntosh Child Care Centre at 104 Stirling Avenue South, will remain open until late September. As previously announced, the site provides emergency overnight shelter, from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m., seven days a week for 60 individuals experiencing homelessness.

We are aware there have been some challenges and have asked the Region to increase support at the site, including improved lighting, security and custodial services. We will continue to work with the Region and the Working Centre to ensure CHCI students and staff are safe.
